The End of the Broze For Mayor Campaign -The Beginning of a Movement

Wow, what an experience this last 5 1/2 months has been. I am honored to have the support of so many people in Houston and beyond. Here are my thoughts on the election results:

Well, the results show again that only 244,000 or so voters turned out in a city of nearly 4 million people. Yet those people decide the future of the city. This is a huge flaw of democracy.

Our total was 694 votes in favor our campaign. I am extremely thankful to every single person that chose to vote for these ideas and to allow me to be the face for this movement which is much bigger than just Houston.

I will also say, I don’t quite understand how 3 other “lesser known” candidates who didn’t attend many events, didn’t have a movement behind them, and didn’t generate near as much interest as the #BrozeForMayor campaign, could gain more votes than us and Sue Lovell. Something about that doesn’t seem right. I don’t have the evidence of course, but when considering all the BS we dealt with from the local media, local political groups, and other candidates, it’s hard not to questions the results.

Either way, when I launched this campaign it was never about the votes. The goal of this campaign has always been about changing hearts and minds, and planting seeds for a bigger movement. Reflect on these words that I wrote back in May when I first announced:

The reality is that even on the local level, the political game is corrupted and rigged. The City of Houston does not need another politician to help bring prosperity and liberty to the city. The people of Houston are capable of organizing their own communities and neighborhoods. The only way to make that happen is to elect someone who will strip the Mayoral position of its power and amplify the voice and power of the people. This is exactly what I plan to do.

Together we helped raise awareness about the reality that the Mayor of Houston has too much power. I believe we have planted seeds that will bear fruit of dissent and the idea of stripping the Mayor of power will spread. Also, read these words I wrote when we announced:

My campaign for Mayor should not be confused with an attempt to tell the people of Houston (or anyone, anywhere) how to live their life and organize their own affairs. If anything, this campaign is designed to educate, empower, and awaken the sovereign spirit of all Houstonians. I want to help people recognize their innate power, beauty, and self-ownership.

Overall, I think through our censorship by Greg Groogan and Fox 26, through the censorship by Facebook ten days before the election, and through the push back we have received from the local establishment – we have been able to show YOU that the local government and media are equally corrupt as the national government and media. I hope that lesson stays with many of you in the time to come.

Finally, I want to say thank you to those who have supported but couldn’t vote in the Houston elections or don’t even live in Houston, Texas, or the U.S. I appreciate the moral support and shares. I also know we have lots of support from people who choose not to vote. I appreciate you and I understand why you choose not to vote. I ask that you find other ways to get active and engaged in your community. Only by finding ways to work together – especially outside of the system – can we build a better world where truth, justice, liberty, and accountability are the norm and not the exception.

P.S. – I will not be voting in the run off. Choosing between Buzbee and Turner is no choice at all. As far as I am concerned, either way Houston is headed in a dangerous direction. Who ever wins better be ready to face my camera and my questions.
